Formal Wear in the New Year

Designer Anna Molinari has created a uniquely beautiful new Buchallase formal line for 2014, with abstract flowers as her inspiration. The gowns are heavily sheer, long and flowing, and each features a different understated floral print. Most of the dresses are full-length and crafted with thin, opaque material except for the solid floral prints, which are used in a dazzlingly unique way. These are not your mother's floral dresses!

Fashion Trends for 2014

The international Fashion Week catwalks of summer and fall 2013 have had a great influence on upcoming fashion trends for 2014. Designers in the fashion capitals of London, Paris, Toronto and Sydney put together a bevvy of new and revamped clothing and footwear lines that are sure to get you excited for shopping this New Year!

Smart-Casual Trends

Thanks to designers like Jonathan Saunders and Emilia Wickstead, bermuda shorts are back with a vengeance. Saunders went for a feminine, ethereal short while Wickstead showed us a tailored, high-waisted version that is sure to find its way into the office. Wickstead's 1970s-style Bermuda short fits a work-appropriate, smart-casual category that women on both sides of the Atlantic are loving. Dress it up with white stockings or pair it with jeweled sandals for a more casual look.

Australian designer Mossman and Chinese label Sheinside have presented fashion-lovers with another smart-casual nod to the 1970s with tailored print jackets, angular tops and bright fitted skirts that are assymetrical from front-to-back. The effect is stunning and oh so desirable!

Shoes and Accessories

Sarah Jessica Parker will be debuting her very own shoe line this February, which was inspired by the actress' portrayal of fashion diva Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. The collection includes pretty flats, skyscraper pumps and a pair of beautiful lace-up leather heels.

As for belts and jewelry in the New Year, gold is back and so are skinny belts. Versace is featuring a black leather belt adorned with a golden Medusa head and embellished with Swarovski cystals, the perfect accompaniment to a neutral-toned Mossman skirt.

Moschino has its own golden chain belt to offer, with a printed logo at the front atop white leather straps. The effect is stunning.

Simplicity is out this year, so feel free to adorn yourself with lace, florals, leather and gold! 2014 is going to be a pivotal year in fashion, so don't miss out.
